Key Stage 3 Curriculum
All pupils in Years 7, 8 and 9 study for
their SAT (Standard Attainment Tests) examinations which they sit at the end of
Year 9.
Topics include:

Key Stage 4 Curriculum
Level 6 or higher: Pupils who achieve a
level 6 or higher in their SAT’s have the option to chose between the following
options:
1) GCSE Triple science (Biology, Chemistry and Physics)
2) GCSE 21st Century Science.
Level 5 or lower: Pupils who achieve a level 5 or lower in their SAT’s all study the Level 2 Nationals Course.

Key Stage 5 Curriculum
Pupils have 2 options of further study in
Science in the 6th form. They can choose to study:
1) Any of the Sciences (Biology, Chemistry or Physics) separately as A-Levels
2) The Applied A-Level Course as either a single or double award.

Extra Curricular
To supplement the learning that takes place in the classroom, members of the department regularly arrange trips and activities both in and outside of school.
In the last year staff have taken pupils to:
The Sealife Centre to study adaptation and feeding relationships.
St Mary’s lighthouse to take part in Ecological surveying.
The Centre for Life to take part in DNA profiling.
Pupils have also been involved in:
Café Scientifique discussing current scientific developments.
Kids in White Coats after school Science Club.
Gifted and Talented lunchtime Science Club.
The citywide Science / Drama competition.
