Key Stage 3 Curriculum
In years 7 & 8 each pupil should have the
opportunity to visit each subject area twice. These areas are:
- Food (Licence to Cook)
- Resistant Materials
- Electronics
- Graphics
- Textiles
Each carousel lasts approximately 8 weeks and the
pupils attend 4 lessons per fortnight. This is done through a mixture of:
- Design and Make activities
- Focused Practical tasks
- Product Evaluation activities
Through these units of work pupils will have
opportunities to
- Use a range of tools, ingredients, equipment and new technology
- Experience different working methods in each Technology area
- Choose from a range of ingredients, materials and resources provided
for them
- Learn about the main elements of the ‘Design Process’
- Learn through taking an active role in a variety of activities
- Become more aware of the importance of a healthy diet, lifestyle and
industrial practices
Key Stage 4 Curriculum
- GCSE Applied Manufacturing (duel award) in either RM, Electronics,
Food, Graphics or Textiles
- BTEC Motor Vehicle
- BTEC Health & Social Care
- BTEC Workskills
- Entry Level Food (SEN pupils only)
Key Stage 5 Curriculum
- A Level Textiles
- BTEC Graphics
- BTEC Engineering
- BTEC Health & Social Care
- BTEC Motor Vehicle

Enrichment
All sector areas offer revision classes to all year 11
pupils after school and in holidays. Further to this individual teachers run
Technology clubs either during lunchtimes or after school.
The Department offers GCSE ‘Catch-up’ sessions on
Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 3pm until 4pm from October onwards. Pupils
are generally invited to these prearranged additional sessions in each sector
area.
The Department offers extensive ’Challenge Days’ for
feeder primary schools which range from Years 3—6. These include a variety of
activities including; Jitterbug - Electronics, Puppet—Textiles, Make a Game -
Textiles/RM, World Pizza -Food.
We also offer a number of Cross Curricular Challenges
that include Science/Textiles—’See you later Insulator’, Science/RM—’Rockets’
and Maths/Textiles—’Angry Angles’.
